Renoxis banned after 87 years

For 87 years, we have been dealing with Renoxis in our country. Scientists and doctors have had a hard time battling the disease. However, since June, we only had one case of Renoxis left to be cured. Now we can finally announce that the last patient, Lissette Charleston, is cured and is feeling better than ever. ​ Renoxis is a disease that gives you flu-like symptoms, gives you pain all over your body and makes you sleepy. Although the symptoms vary from mild to severe, most people suffer quite a lot.  The first infection was registered in our capital Greymore, later on, it spread more towards the northern part of Eldaro. Over the years, the symptoms and consequences of Renoxis have become increasingly worse. The National Health Organisation identified 653 deaths due to Renoxis, but luckily 1.168 Eldarians survived the disease. As a result of the government’s strict measures, no cases of Renoxis have been registered in other countries of the UBN. although the symptoms vary from mild to severe. ​ The case of Lissette So far 63-year-old Lisette Charleston is the last person in Eldaro with Renoxis. She got ill in August of 2018. She had moderate symptoms and took multiple pills and injections to deal with the pain. “The case of Lissette is stressful, but not at all unique. We have been dealing with patients much worse”, said Dr. Jeremy Witters, leading doctor of the Eldaro National Hospital. The use of stem cell transplants has cured thousands of people and also cured Lisette. Lisette still needs some time to recover but is obviously very happy to go home. “Nothing was certain, I could’ve died. But I’m very happy I didn’t. Now I can go back to my children and grandchildren. During those two years, I‘ve learned how much I need them, I’ll never take them for granted”, said Lissette.

Re-infection It wasn’t the first time Lissette had Renoxis. Back in 1970, Lissette battled with Renoxis too, but her symptoms were less drastic. She wasn’t the only person who had been re-infected over the years. Studies of the Health Research Team of Eldaro National Hospital have shown us that 13,2% of the people got re-infected. During the first 50 years of Renoxis, 66,7% of the people got re-infected.  The Health Research Team hopes to keep lowering that number. ​ Health Potions Now that the last case of Renoxis is treated, Eldaro is liberated again. Although there may be new cases in the future, the doctors remain hopeful. There have been a lot of campaigns to make the  Eldarians aware that the Health Potions have antibodies in them. Because of these campaigns, they are more likely to take them. Scientists already see an increase of people who are getting their Potions. Besides the antibodies, the Health Potions are a very good base for Eldarians to stay healthy. “We are doing the best we can to improve the Potions so that Renoxis remains history”, says Dr. Iniah Morgan, head of the Health Research Team of the Eldaro National Hospital.
